The World’s Longest Catwalk
You thought New York, Paris, London and Milan’s fashion week were influential…but it was Copenhagen Fashion Week who set a world record for the world’s longest catwalk, with 220 models strutting down one mile of the runway, exhibiting 500 Scandinavian fashion labels.
Even more impressive: this catwalk occurred beneath rain, and the models included first timers picked from off the street, and a few carrying babies. A few even slipped out of stilettos to complete the runway barefoot. Suffer for fashion? No longer necessarily the case. (via)
As if a roller coaster ride wasn’t terrifying enough, imagine being strapped down by heavy metal bars and whipped through the air, upside down, naked. At Southend-on-Sea, Essex, 102 brave souls took an exposed ride to break the world record, and raised more than 20,000 pounds for the Bosom Pals breast cancer charity. Admirable in more ways than one.

More than 7,200 children from Gaza flew colorful kites across a beach as part of a UN organized world record breaking event. (via)
GO FISH: giant Blue Catfish weighs 130lbs

We can’t decide if this is weirdly cute or weirdly creepy. The monster Blue Catfish was caught in Missouri by Greg Bernal and took about an hour (with assistance) to land and ship. The fish is 57 inches long and 45 inches around, and soon to be mounted on Greg Bernal’s wall—and, the world record books. (via)
LADY GAGA BREAKS WORLD RECORD WITH ‘ALEJANDRO.’
This week, Lady Gaga’s latest single “Alejandro” climbed to #9 on the United World Chart, making The Fame (Monster) the only album in history to deliver seven worldwide Top 10 hits! Michael Jackson’s Thriller contains six songs that reached Top 10 on the chart. Well done Momma, hope you raise a glass tonight to celebrate!

Careful! Your record breaking/bizarre beauty ambitions might just get you killed.
Sheyla Hershey is just a 30 year old Texas model who underwent 30 procedures to arrive at her record breaking triple-K breast size, but a recent surgery gave her a potentially fatal infection. She’s undergoing implant removal surgery and treating her infection as best as she can, but let it stand as a warning to not let your desire to get in Guinness too far…especially when it consists of surgically altering your body. Are you a natural redhead? Want to set a world record with your flaming bold hair? Then head to Sammamish, Washington this Saturday, July 17 to join photographer Anne Lindsay’s redhead gathering/record breaking attempt at the Skyline High School Stadium, with the nearly 500 carrot tops already registered for the event. You might think you’re in an alternate reality where your rare hair color prevails—or it might just be more of a shock after you return to normal. Register and more details at the record website.

We know you’re all dreaming of vacation cruises—but imagine a boat trip that extents to a 1,152 day epic journey…and the prospect might just seem a bit more daunting.
58 year old sailor Reid Stowe just returned to Manhattan after an over three year “voyage of love” around the world, returning home to his girlfriend, and a 23 month old baby he’d never seen. Though the two meant to go on the trip together, she got off the boat after realizing her pregnancy. Guinness is in the process of validating the record, but mostly our heads are just spinning with the idea of living on the rocky seas for that long, never once touching land. Good thing he found a few productive new hobbies while at sea. Nothing like meditative torn sail repair, painting, yoga or book writing to calm the hearts (and possibly stomach) of a man truly far at sea.

How would you like to ride on the world’s largest skateboard? As in a MASSIVE skateboard that fits you and all your friends at one time? As in you will look like a tiny speck on this giant skateboard and attempting to skate it, solo, like California Skateparks owner Joe Ciaglia…will likely result in a similar giant tumble down the grassy hill.
BUT it’d be the most exhilirating ride of your life. Maybe. Certainly worth the video trip!
